Activities of World Comics Finland
World Comics Finland is mainly concerned with development communication, but we have also introduced comics as a medium for self-expression in small and alternative groups e.g. in the Nordic countries.

Workshops and courses
We arrange grassroots comics workshops and courses. Currently we have cooperation with organisations in Tanzania, Mozambique, India and Finland.
Lectures
We can lecture about the use of comics as a development tool both in art schools and in institutions with social and political studies.

Exhibitions
We have produced many exhibitions from India and Africa of grassroots and other local comics. We have also produced some exhibitions with grassroots comics from Finland (mainly made by immigrants).

Manuals and instructions in different languages
We constantly try to improve and streamline our instructions and manual for making grassroots comics and the training of trainers. We make the manuals available on our website. Currently we have basic manuals available in the following languages: English, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Swahili, Somali and Finnish. In the Indian subcontinent World Comics manuals are also available in Hindi, Tamil and Urdu.

Fundraising
We raise funds for supporting our project work in India and Africa. We collect money with taking our “Caricature Automat” to different functions, by giving comics as illustrations to publications, and by receiving copyright compensation for the use of our instruction materials in publications and websites.

Promotion of the grassroots comics
We take part in comics festivals, global education festivals, and seminars and promote there the grassroots comics method as an on-the-ground, cost-effective, low-tech communication tool for small organisations all over the world.
